The chilly weather in January isn’t very inspiring, but January is National Walk Your Pet Month. A walk is a great way to bond with your dog and getting out and about for a brisk walk each day is great exercise for both you and your pup. Who knows, a daily walk with your four-legged friend may help you stick to some New Year Resolutions.
For extra inspiration, check our some of our favorite dog collars and dog leashes. If you are going to walk you might as well walk in style!

October has gone to the dogs - the shelter dogs that is. Adopt a Shelter Dog Month was founded to help raise awareness of the many dogs that are in shelters across the country that are looking for new forever homes.
So if there’s room in your family for another waggin’ tail consider adopting a dog from your local shelter. Knowing that you saved the life of an animal in need is such a rewarding feeling. Plus the bond you and your new best friend will share is second to none.
For all our four-legged friends out there that like to talk politics, H. Doodle has you covered for the 2008 Election year. It doesn’t matter if you are a Democrat or a Republican. We have political dog collars fit for both camps.
Once you hit the town with your Democratic or Republican collar everyone is sure to know where you stand. It sure beats a bumper sticker!
We are very proud to announce that the Boston Red Sox collar, leash and bandanna sold at H. Doodle was featured in the August issue of Dog Fancy. If you happen to have a copy on hand, flip to page 54 and check us out!

I came across this great sentiment that was published in the Therapy Dog Inc. News Magazine from an unknown Doctor of Veterinary Medicine on A day in the life of our Pugs and I wanted to share it with fellow dog lovers out there.
From time to time, people tell me, “lighten up, it’s just a dog,”
or, “that’s a lot of money for just a dog.”
They don’t understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for “just a dog.”
Some of my proudest moments have come about with “just a dog.”
Many hours have passed and my only company was “just a dog,” but I did not once feel slighted.
Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by “just a dog,”
and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of “just a dog” gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it’s “just a dog,” then you will probably understand
phrases like “just a friend,” “just a sunrise,” or “just a promise.”
“Just a dog” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust,
and pure unbridled joy.
“Just a dog” brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.
Because of “just a dog”, I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
So for me and folks like me, it’s not “just a dog” but an embodiment of all the
hopes and dreams of the future,
the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.
“Just a dog” brings out what’s good in me and diverts my thoughts away
from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it’s not “just a dog”,
but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being"just a man or woman.”
So the next time you hear the phrase “just a dog”
just smile...because they “just don’t understand.”
Meimei and Miko are two energetic pugs that hail from Canada. The girls love to romp around and play with plush toys, eat their favorite fruits and veggies and cuddle with their Mama and Papa. Meimei and Miko are also proud members of the Calgary Pugsters (a meetup group started by their mom). At the group’s monthly meetings, the girls get to meet and play with lots of other pugs. At the meetups, Meimei always welcomes the shy pugs and encourages them to get out there and play. Miko stays on the go and makes sure everyone is having fun and playing safe.
The girls also have their very own blog titled A day in the life of our Pugs. The blog is full of adorable pictures of Meimei and Miko and is a great way to keep up with these busy ladies.
As you can see in the video of Meimei & Miko playing with the Sushi Pup toys these girls are a ton of fun!
Pet Sitters International would like to invite all dog lovers to participate in their 9th annual Take Your Dog to Work Day on June 22, 2007. If Fido is up for it and your boss will allow it, take your pooch to work and show them just how hard you have to work to put treats in their bowl.
Be sure to snap a picture of your pup while they are hard at work in your office and submit it to the “What is Your Dog Doing at Work?” photo contest. The first place winner will receive $500 and a $500 donation will be made to an animal related charity on their behalf.
For all those four-legged baseball fans out there, we wanted to let you know that we have expanded our MLB Dog apparel offerings by adding two new teams. You can now purchase officially licensed dog apparel for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Angels.
For all those with green thumbs, springtime is the perfect time to get out in the yard, enjoy the beautiful weather and plant gorgeous flowers. While flowers add a lot of charm to the house, if you have a furry friend romping around the yard you may want to make sure that the flowers in the garden are safe for Spot if he decided to nibble on a few of the plants. The ASPCA Animal Poison Center has compiled a list of common flowers and plants that are toxic to pets. The list not only includes the plant name but it also list the most common side effects your dog or cat will experience if they eat the plant.
Here’s to a garden that both you and Spot can enjoy!
With all the information being released about the recent Pet Food Recall, it is often hard to stay up-to-date with the most recent information. I have discovered two great resources that do a great job helping pet owners get the information they need about the pet food recall. I hope you find these sites helpful as well.
