First Aid for Dogs

First Aid or Dogs

Just like with humans, our canine friends can encounter accidents at any time or place.  The best way to ensure the safety of your four-legged friend is to know how to handle medical emergencies when they occur.

To be prepared it is essential to have a basic knowledge of canine first aid and safety.  A great way to learn about dog first aid techniques is by taking a course.  However, finding time to fit in a first aid course into your busy schedule may be a difficult trick.  The good news is that dog first aid courses are now available online, so you can take the course from the comfort of your own home when your schedule allows.

One such first aid course offered online is the Online Pet First Aid Course ($35) provided by Connected Learning Network.  The online course makes use of videos and detailed instructions to help you:

  • recognize emergencies
  • provide emergency life support
  • handle sudden illness
  • care for wounds, bleeding and burns
  • treat physical injuries
  • handle poisoning and environmental emergencies
  • prepare for disasters

Whether you take an online course, attend a training seminar or read a book on canine first aid, the skills that you learn may help you save your beloved pooch’s life one day.  During emergencies, it is often the little things that we do when the accident first occurs that make a big difference.
