Things Dogs Eat But Shouldn’t
Jan 25, 2008
After about one week of pug ownership I knew I had made a mistake. I never should have named my pug Henry. It was very clear to me that I should have named him Hoover because the boy ate everything in his path! I thought that maybe this was just a pug thing, but after talking with owners of other breeds and watching a few episodes of those emergency animal surgery shows, I quickly realized that for some reason dogs are simply compelled to eat things that their bodies have no chance of digesting.
Dr. Chris Duke recently revealed the top 10 items that dogs frequently eat that get them into trouble. He also provides some insight on why dogs are attracted to these items.
Some of the items on the list were a little surprising to me, but then again, after owning a pug, nothing should surprise me.
Here is Dr. Duke’s list of items. Be sure to read his article to find out how each item is damaging and why dogs seem to be attracted to these items.
- Socks
- Briefs / Panties
- Panty hose
- Rocks
- Balls
- Chew toys
- Corn cobs
- Bones
- Hair ties & hair ribbons
- Sticks
